Interior Design Trends for 2012
Each year we see new, emerging art
interior trends that come from nowhere to compete with more
traditionalist trends and shake up the market. With 2012 fast
approaching many new, exiting and vintage interior trends are
emerging that we predict will have a real impact.
Our prediction on the interior design
trends for 2012 are;
This style of design and art has been a popular
choice for many years and continues to grow in popularity with all
generations such as the old, young and in between. Patriotic images
of icons such as sporting heroes, the royal family, politicians,
sports people and musicians are leading player in the Britishness
category.
With the London Olympics being held in the UK next
year expect many London landmarks and traditional images such as red
phone boxes, red open top double decker buses and tube maps to be
popular choices.
The patriotic aspect of this type of art inspires
a strong feeling of togetherness and will make it a real leader in
the interior industry throughout 2012.
Interior designers, artists and the fashion
industry have in recent years been hit by a wave of nostalgic trends,
images of years gone by, the good times, retro fashion and the
re-emergence of music from yesteryears has swept the UK in an almost
phenomenon manner.
Everybody loves to remember years gone by and
reflecting this nostalgia through canvas
prints, furniture and accessories is one sure fire way to bring
the good times home. Expect a whitewashed, worn-out or distressed
style of interior choices in 2012.
Images of steam trains, old style brown suit cases
and the wartime eras could all emerge as favourites next year as the
nostalgic look grows.
Surrounded by mystery and culture, Aztec art and
tribal artwork have always appealed to people throughout time, many
geometric patterns and symbols can be seen in every day life that
have been inspired by tribal or Aztec forms.
This style of interior will no doubt use a mixture
of colours to enhance the look, expect wall art that encompasses
purples, peach, blacks, pinks, greens and other mystical colours to
make a perfect aztec style creation. Tribal images such as totem
poles are expected to be a popular choicein 2012, they also use
similar colours to aztec and really do bring life to any interior.
Typography has been a huge hit and grown from
strength to strength in 2011, 2012 is expected to see this style of
interior design and art propelled into its peak of popularity.
By mixing up colours and fonts with letters,
numbers and monotone, artists have put iconic images in place of
words and even gone multilingual to enhance their artwork. By being
an art category and trend with no traditional boundaries it has
proved an inspirational style of art among artists and art lovers
alike.
Microscopic art is perhaps the surprise interior
design prediction of 2012, it is art under the microscope.
Colours such as pinks, blues, greens, browns, neon and UV style
colours bring out the best of laboratory style images.
Abstract shapes, hand drawn scientific style
images, ink blots and almost futuristic or retro visuals will really
work with this type of art. Not quite a globally popular style of
artwork or a first choice for many people, microscopic art pushes the
boundaries of modern art further than most styles and uses the
imagination of different artists.
2012 will be a great test of just how far
microscopic art has come in terms of popularity.
All the above 5 art styles are vastly
different and will have their own followers for a number of reasons,
when it comes to art there are no rules and certainly no restrictions
on why you should like or want to showcase any particular style.

Interior Design Trends: 2012 - TypographyTypography has been big all year for 2011 & expect to see this style of interior design and art propelled into its peak of popularity as we move into 2012. Mix-up colours and fonts, inject subtle colour into monotones. Use puns, play on words, swap icons for words, play with multilingual phrases - all with a DIY ethic.
By mixing up colours and fonts with letters, numbers and
monotone, artists have put iconic images in place of words
and even gone multilingual to enhance their artwork. By
being an art category and trend with no traditional
boundaries it has proved an inspirational style of art
among artists and art lovers alike. - Re-arranging and playing with letters and words.
- Displaying ideas DIY ethic - hanging with pegs / string
- Bold rounded Serif fonts or Clean & minimal San-Serif fonts
- Use Monotones and inject random colour to achieve impact and abstract look & feel.
- Multilingual Phrases will stay big, with a huge multilingual event around the corner, The 2012 Olympics
- London Typography -- use words / phrases / places & mix up with Graphic design.
- Play on words - injecting graphics instead of words.

For the pallete you are looking at a rich selection of pastel colours. Deep rich pastels mixed up with heavy slate greys work well.

With 2011 well and truly started, it's time to look ahead to what's going to be popular throughout 2012, for textile design. For the last four years we've been predicting what's going to be hot, and this year is no different. We're starting off with a quick over look with more defined trends coming later on this year. So let's start the trends off with an look at the ten most popular styles for design for 2012. Abstract Elements
Taking inspirations from the earth with colours sampling soil, foliage and flora, this more grown up version of tie die is going to be big with the friends of the earth for a natural organic look. Baroque Opulence
Baroque has always been floating in and out of popularity and over the last few years it's been or a new surge thanks to how well it works with vintage. For 2012, expect to carry on seeing rich colours, symmetrical patterns and expensive textiles.
Bohemian Folk
Geometric shapes, Paisleys and floral images combine together to create a new style, a hybrid if you will of some previous trends. Some interesting colour combinations can be created.
Eastern Colour Block
Bright vivid colours on white backgrounds sum up Bauhaus and Mondrian and this is going to be a popular choice for 2012. Although expect to see more colours and even some curves added to the classic design.
Ink Blot Camo
The organic look has always been popular, but adding in the twist of camoflage and water colour ink blots and your on to a winner over the next year.
Photobased Prints
Not just standard prints either, slightly edited prints. Bright colours and often macro shots of organic subjects work best.
Pop Art Conversationals
Pop art will continue to be popular, but with the almost over done Andy Warhol style people are starting to switch over to the Roy Lichtenstein's almost comic book style.
Shanghai Florals
We've been a big fan of Asian inspired floral prints for years and for 2012 they are back. Bold colours mixed with nuetral tones. Bold or washed out, off whites and mixtures of textures, the options are endless.
Tribal Wash
Ethnic art has always been popular, so have washed out and faded art, but why not try using a combination of the two? Will work well with worn out furniture and wooden floors.
Under The Microscope
Every year we seem to get more digital and more scientific. So it was only a matter of time before people started to appreciate the natural beauty of viruses and organisms from under a microscope. Adding in bold colours with deep backgrounds for something striking and unique.

Homemade is inspired by the earth and nature. Taking its style cues from the world that surrounds us, Homemade is primarily focused on nature and it's muted earthy tones. This style is already a rising trend at the moment with the growing popularity of the "green", "Fairtrade" and"organic" ethos that is developing in society today. Homemade will work as well with the classic chocolate box cottages in the small villages of rural UK as it will in an 17C Georgian or turn of the Century Edwardian house.
The colours for Homemade are almost all influenced by the world around us so there are lots of earthy brown tones, and muted greens. You can get away with some light blues and also some greys (we are in the UK after all!)
Homemade is also inherently based on re-cycled, so don't be scared to add some of your own DIY skills and styles to the equation. Ethical manufacturing, recycled materials, irregular textures, this is the basis of Homemade.

For decoration look to our floral and organicrange to add some expression and warmth. Classic black and white and sepia photos work well. You could also consider having a bespoke canvas of one of your own photos which we can produce as a black and white or sepia print for no extra extra cost.
Homemade is made for the Arga style kitchens and dinning rooms. They add warmth and history to an interior and people love to spend time in it. Homeade makes a statement, but more of a refined, subtle declaration of style than a bold and brash attention seeking trend would. Homemade says "Live Here", simply enjoy your home.

Try not to contrast the colours and avoid bright colours on any artwork and you'll make a great interior, also remember how much a difference smell can make on a room. This trend is brilliant for the kitchen as the smells of cooking foods take it to a new level everyone will love and envy!
As with any of the modern art ordered from WHoArtNow, if you are unsure about the colour of a canvas, or if you'd like to change some colours on a canvas, please get in contact with us. We will also produce bespoke art from you on a commission basis. Again, don't be shy, just give us a shout with your requirements and we will tailor create art for your project.

The timeless vintage look seems set to stay in again for 2009. "Lets play" is a move on from the Retro Kitschy look that has been prevalent in recent years. It is Bold, Contemporary and Fun, perfectfor a colour injected room. It could almost be considered an immature in it's essence, but that is its intension. It's playful nature may be overpowering & make a bold statement, so be careful where you use it. Bright and bold colours are key in this modern interpretation of the folk classic.

"Lets Play" would be as well suited to a lounge bar, as it would be for ares used by young children and areas of inspiration like offices and studies. The outrageous geometric shapes are a great area to add some humor and personality to your space.
As you can see from the colour palette below, Lets Play can use pretty much any colour you can think of, as long as its bright and bold! The more vibrant the colour, the better. Our favourites are General Lee Orange and Kawasaki Green as there 'cool' colours to use at the moment.
For wall art, like Timeless Curve, have a look in the retro art section for some really bright colours and simple patterns to really add to the room.

For furniture, you need to go with either bright colours again, or tone it down slightly with some black or white furniture. Try checking out Furniture Auction houses, or Kitschy Retro on-line stores for playful furniture to complete the eclectic look. Don't be scared to mix and match, it's what it's all about! Vintage 1960's rugs are another way of adding some playful patterns into the room, and lets not forget a decent piece of canvas art! If you want to accessories, 1960's light shades are very hip or you could even try an original Rotary Dial Telephone from the 80's to complete the look. Where as with the flooring, bright colours work well, especially on industrial style 'plastic' flooring (like you'd seen in a garage)
With any of the canvas art ordered from WHoArtNow, if your unsure about the colour of a canvas, or if you'd like to change some colours on a canvas, please get in contact with us. We will also produce bespoke art from you on acommission basis. Again, don't be shy, just give us a shout with your requirements and we will tailor create art for your project.

Invidia is the use of black, dark hues and metallic colours such as bronze, silver and gold to create this glamorous, elegant and bold interior. Colours that are dark and soulless are brought to life with flashes of intense colour, like the metallic's mentioned, or yellows and reds (although natural metal colours look best)
Do some research into the '80s yuppie flats and try and avoid making the same mistake they made. This is not a tatty interior, quality finishing like leather and real woods like oak and mahogany are key details and Invidia is all about the details.
The key to successfully pulling off invidia is the accessories and the details. Lighting (switches and all) can be finished in gold or aluminum (brushed looks amazing next to black) as can candlesticks and picture frames. With mirror and picture frames, big period frames look amazingly over the top but suit the feel of the space.
Consider a focal point modern chandelier for the ultimate in modern glamour. For artwork, look to inject some intense colours with large retro canvas prints. Also consider large mirrors opposite sources of natural light to open the room up even more.
For this interior to work best, avoid small rooms in modern houses. Victorian houses with original fireplaces and moldings are perfect to creating the right mood with invidia. Warehouse and loft conversions are also perfect as long as they have traditional windows, doors and fixings.

We have a brand new exclusive range of art on canvas to compliment the Invidia range. It features retro, vintage wallpaper sections, modern gold and black abstracts, white floral macro photos, Gold Paisley Batiks, Manhattan skylines,Buddha gold statues & Black Japanese Abstract prints, all available as canvas prints. Check the Invidia range. and get inspired for 2008!
